PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ¾ÅÉ«ÉçÇø Cork & Seal Company, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) today announced that Raymond L. McGowan, Jr. has been named Vice President and Assistant to the President of the U.S. Food Can Division. He reports to Clinton J. Waring, President, Food Can Division.

Mr. McGowan's responsibilities in his new position include Sales, Marketing, Quality and Production Planning. He will use ¾ÅÉ«ÉçÇø's World Class Performance process to manage his responsibilities and expects to capitalize on ¾ÅÉ«ÉçÇø's EOLE end-technology and recently restructured plant infrastructure to substantially improve ¾ÅÉ«ÉçÇø's Food Can business.

Mr. McGowan brings more than 26 years of packaging industry experience to ¾ÅÉ«ÉçÇø Cork & Seal. Most recently, Mr. McGowan was Group Vice President of Global Consumer Products at Sonoco Products Company after holding various positions of increasing responsibility throughout the organization. His responsibilities included managing 47 facilities in 12 countries.

Mr. McGowan is a graduate of Providence College and has completed the Executive Management Program at the University of North Carolina.
